*Notice of New Terms for Yard Waste Pickup*
Yard Waste shall be contained in sturdy paper bags, cardboard boxes, or containers to be collected on scheduled days. The volume shall not exceed thirty-two (32) gallons of capacity or fifty (50) pounds of weight. If a resident desires a Yard Waste container returned, they shall legibly write “SAVE” on said container. Large branches and logs may be stacked curbside but shall not exceed six (6) inches in diameter or four (4) feet in length. Small branches, logs, or brush shall be bundled and tied with string. Individual branch diameters shall not exceed six (6) inches in diameter or four (4) feet in length. Bundle diameters shall not exceed one (1) foot in diameter or exceed four (4) feet in length, or exceed fifty (50) pounds in weight. Each household shall be limited to six (6) bags/containers/bundles per collection. During the last five (5) collections of the year, each household shall be limited to ten (10) bags/containers/bundles. Plastic bags are allowed during the last five (5) collections. Individual plastic bags may not exceed fifty-five (55) gallons in capacity or fifty (50) pounds. GFL has the right to reject collection if Yard Waste is not properly prepared. Additionally, GFL provides access to all Hales Corners household residents to the GFL Yard Waste Drop-off Site at W144S6350 College Court, Muskego, WI 53150. There is no limit to the number of containers, bags, stacks, or bundles at the Yard Waste Drop-off site. Proof of residency is required. The Drop-off site is open on Saturdays 7am-2pm.
Reminder: Open burning of leaves and Yard Waste is prohibited in the Village of Hales Corners
The Village contracts with GFL Environmental for residential garbage and recycling collection. Waste is collected every Friday for all eligible Village residents. If a legal holiday falls on or proceeds your normal collection day, then garbage will be picked up on the next business day.
Place refuse containers outside before 6:00a.m., but no sooner than noon of the previous day. Emptied receptacles shall be removed by 8:00 a.m. the day following collection. If your garbage has not been picked up, call GFL Environmental at (262) 679-0860 as soon as possible.
GFL Environmental also takes larger household items, up to 200 pounds, with their normal collection. Please call GFL Environmental at (262) 679-0860 to arrange pickup times of such items as appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpet, etc. There is no additional charge for this service. They no longer collect televisions.
Please note that there is no dumping location within the Village. Please contact GFL Environmental's Emerald Park Landfill at 414-529-1360 who do allow our Village residents to dump for a FEE located at W124 S10629 S124th St., Muskego, WI 53130.
*The Department of Public Works, as time and weather permit, will collect Christmas trees along the roadside. The trees will be chipped and composted as part of recycling efforts. The service is available for Hales Corners residents with municipal trash collection only. Apartment and commercial occupants need to dispose of Christmas trees through their own provider.
